Should you run your own server?

You definitely can. However, we believe that adding real-time communication features to applications brings enormous value to the end-users. It also requires high expertise to manage and deploy real-time infrastructure. We manage global real-time communication infrastructure even for single applications since it is not a value addition to most businesses and developers.

Our servers are deployed globally across most AWS regions. We solve faults and failures in several stages. For example, we accumulate and divide the load balance equally on each server in a multi-threaded environment across CPU cores. In this scenario, if a single thread dies, it can be brought back to life in zero downtime while the load is being distributed across the remaining cores.

We also load balance across servers in a given region and across availability zones as a second stage of redundancy. In the event of a catastrophe, such as hardware failure or internet outage in a given region, we can re-route the traffic to the other regions with minimal interruption as a backup option.


We provide fault-tolerant and redundant services. This is extremely important to the clients working in healthcare, telemedicine, or financial services. In terms of transferring files, all media streams are fully encrypted, end-to-end by default. We have built our very own signaling stack and use the latest technology for real-time communication on the web.



If you have users behind strict firewalls or messy corporate networks, We recommend you avail Skylink’s TURN services. This is a routed media service that improves your connection success rate from (+10% to +20%) with a click on the account management console. TURN helps you find the best routes to send media between endpoints. If it is difficult to find direct routes between endpoints, it will assist and route the media streams between your users. Our pricing system is simple, you pay as per your usage.


A Selective Forwarding Unit (SFU) is used to perform stream transformations and manipulations that cannot be easily supported in a strict peer-to-peer interaction. Our SFU helps take the load off of your hardware when connecting to a larger number of participants or endpoints.


If you want to connect to more than 3-4 endpoints in an interaction, it may be difficult for your device to manage video rendering or audio without jitter or dropping packets. With the Temasys SFU (MCU) you can scale interactions for more users by taking some of the load and transferring that work for the servers that can handle routing of the media streams between endpoints. All streams remain encrypted and secured as you provide a high-quality experience to your users.

We have no restrictions or limitations on the resolutions of video or quality of the audio streams. The best part is you pay for the actual bandwidth you use.


The Temasys SFU allows you to securely record, archive interactions, added to the AWS S3 bucket. You will find this service extremely useful if you have to audit or monitor calls for quality purposes.
