Configuring your Cube

Your cube has a number of configuration options, and this guide will walk you through some of the most important ones.

Select a room name strategy

A few room naming strategies are available. For this tutorial, let’s choose the Auto-assign option. This will prevent the user from having to enter a room name when joining a call and instead Skylink Cube will automatically assign a unique room identifier. This is the recommended option for trying out Cube.

Setting up your domains

Your Cube uses your website domain as a key to allow it to initialize.

Getting started with the Free Plan

Skylink Cube offers a variety of plans for you to choose from with varying capabilities. For the purposes of this guide, let’s select the Skylink Cube Connect plan. This gives you “free forever” access to one-on-one video calls and unlimited messaging.

Choose Notification Options

As the owner of your Cube, you are eligible to receive SMS and email notifications for when someone joins a Skylink Cube instance running on your website. Notifications are optional, for this guide let’s leave them off.

For the next step, you will see the option to upload a logo to brand your Cube, this will appear in the top left of the header of your cube. This image should have a 1:1 ratio for best display quality.

Setting Display Options

First define a title for your Cube, this will be displayed in the header.

Next, you can set your Greeting Message, this will be displayed when your Cube opens and prompts the user for their name.

We will skip the next few options and go directly to the Cube Display Mode option. Here we choose “Load as Bottom Bar” which will cause your Cube to open up full size.

Selecting a Theme

For the next step, you the option of selecting a few pre-defined themes. Pick your favorite.

And that’s it. With these options set up, your cube is ready to be installed. Click the save button to continue to the next step.

Installing your cube is as simple as finding your cube in the Skylink Cube manager, finding your desired Cube instance in the list, and clicking the embed button to find the embed code.

This embed code is a small bit of JavaScript code that you copy and paste into the HTML of your website. The best place to put it is just before the HTML tag indicated in the the screenshot above. This is the closing tag in the body of the document and it looks like </body>.

Once you have pasted this snippet of code into your document, save the file and reload your website and your Cube will appear on the page in the lower-right ready to use.
